On a Mission: The Buster Foundation | Rescue Spotlight
Wow, I am seriously behind in blogging (these last two months have been crazy busy), but good news to those who read this–there will be many blog entries and photos (of course!) to look at.
Last month, I met up with the crew of The Buster Foundation to photograph their rescues. For those who are not familiar with them, they specialize in pit bull rescue. Living so close to Detroit, they are a very popular breed for reasons you can imagine… And given the controversy around the breed, it’s no wonder that some of these dogs have been waiting YEARS for a furever home, with some that never do. :/ How sad is that.
I’ve met a lot of great dogs, both pitties and not, and while breed CAN play a role, I think it really comes down to nurture/nature (selective breeding for certain traits), and responsible ownership. Don’t even get me started on some of the owners that I have encountered, that really shouldn’t be owning a dog. Le sigh.
It took about four hours to photograph 15 of their amazing rescues (whew!), and it was totally worth it. I say this often, but I’ll say it again… I seriously love doing doggy makeovers. My favorite part after a session is literally going through the images, and “uncovering” the soul of each dog. When you look through these, you can’t help but go, “Wow, this dog is really beautiful.”
If one of these strike a chord within you, and you’d like more information on adopting, please send a message to info(at)busterdogs.com And of course, as always, please share this with as many people as possible. You never know if one of these dogs will appeal to someone, somewhere.
If you know of anyone or an organization that are in need of professional animal photos and/or would be interested in creating awareness for their organization, please send me an email at hello (at) katkuphotography.com). While my schedule often books up quickly, I will do my best to accommodate requests.
