Polar, Duchess, Beau & Heidi | Ann Arbor Dog Photography
I forget when I first fell in love with the Great Pyrenees (GP) breed. Probably during one of those days where you browse through the PetFinder pages of dogs available for adoption and try really, really hard not to come home with one of them. You know what I’m talking about. Some of you may have been unsuccessful ;)
After seeing one available for adoption, I Googled the breed and soon discovered GP PUPPIES! Ahhh! They are absolutely to die for. They look like little polar bears. That grow into BIG polar bears. But what especially attracted me was their described temperament: strong willed, gentle, confident, fearless, patient, affectionate, which I may or may not identify with. People gravitate towards animals with similar temperaments ?
Anyway, I digress, and the whole point of me even talking about this breed was because I got to photograph THREE of them. And they are just as amazing in person as they are in photos. I wanted to steal Beau, the 7-month-old (grown-ass) puppy (and brother to Duchess, the other puppy in the photos)—such a sweetheart!
Polar, who is 14 years old (which I find fricking incredible because he’s a large dog) turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I was amazed at the amount of personality shining through his images since he didn’t seem to care for being photographed the entire time, hah.
Heidi, the Bernese, I felt a little sorry for because she was the odd one out, but I don’t think she noticed, as she was all smiles!
I think this is the first time I’ve photographed four dogs in one session. Having photographed three dogs a month before, I thought that was tough, but this was a whole another level! Definitely felt pooped by the end, but I can’t complain too much because I seriously have one of the best jobs ever. :)
Thank you Andrea for sharing your pups with me. I hope you love their images as much as I do!
