2015 Doggy Portraits for a Cause |W/ Humane Society of Huron Valley
May is always a crazy month since this is the time of year where I hold my annual fundraiser, Doggy Portraits for a Cause, for the Humane Society of Huron Valley‘s Walk and Wag Event.
I love giving back to this shelter, not only because it’s in my hometown, but because they really do a great job with rescue and finding homes for thousands of pets each year. Last year, they helped over 12,000 animals (wow, I can’t even imagine!), and they were also awarded for having one of the highest “save rates” in Michigan.
Having worked with rescues, I know this type of work is not easy. It’s stressful, and it can be emotional, and I’m just amazed at all they do within our community.
This year’s event was dicey (compared to the great weather we got the last two years). I woke up to a rainy day with forecasts of thunderstorms. For sure, I thought this event would be canceled due to it raining cat and dogs (Haha, bad joke. And yes, I had to throw that in there), but the show went on. The dogs were wet, but they made for some cute photographs (check out Fidgit, he’s the one looking away). Here are a few of my faves. For the rest, check out my post on my Facebook page.
Oh yeah, we raised closed to $700 this year–slightly more than last year; 100% of the proceeds were donated back. Suhhhh-WEEET! (I imagine some actor saying this in a comical way, but I can’t remember who it is. Does anyone know who I’m talking about?! )
