Pure Michigan | Makielski Berry Farm
Continuing my “Pure Michigan” adventures, I decided to go berry picking this past weekend. I think the last time I went has to be when I was at least 5 years old, and it was for strawberries. Makielski Berry Farm is a short drive from my house with late picking hours (they close at 8), so I opted to go there.
The fields are around a bend, and to get to the raspberry bushes, you have to step through a small opening in between some trees. Once you’re through, it’s just rows and rows of plump, red fruit begging to be picked (and eaten!) with busy bees buzzing about.
There were a few stray barn cats running about, and of course, I couldn’t resist taking photos of them. This little tabby was the only one brave enough to withstand a few frames of my camera before running off into the bushes. The Makielski’s also had a very calm, beautiful German Shepherd (see below).
I also ended up buying some honey (makes sense why all those bees are about!). This honey was made from the raspberry bushes, making everything seemingly come full circle.
