“She’s my best friend.”
“She’s my best friend.”
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Well, if you’re the proud owner of a rescue dog, then I’m sure you will be able to completely identify with this story.
Becky grew up with dogs but due to her work, she wasn’t in a situation where she could have a dog, until now.
Enter Rocky.
Becky stopped by at her local shelter and saw Rocky, a Golden Retriever mix. She was unsure initially about adopting him, but after a volunteer told her that he probably wouldn’t be there long before he was adopted, she ended up walking out with him that day.
And it’s been a life full of snuggles and ball time ever since! To celebrate his (almost) 1-year adopt-versary, we did a little photoshoot capturing their favorite bonding activities. Pretty sure Rocky thought this was the best day ever! :)
P.S. Don’t you love how both of their names end in “-y”?
Thanks Becky for such a fun session! I’m so glad that you found Rocky!
Daphne’s session was extra special for me. Mostly because it was a reunion of sorts. I first met Daphne’s owner, Marie,(along with some other kids) on an Alaskan Cruise when we were both 13 years old, and we were like BFFs immediately. It was a week-long cruise, and there are no words to describe the experience, except that it was one of the best weeks of my life. Since there was nowhere to go, our parents let us run around the ship unsupervised (at an age where parents were starting to become uncool to be seen with), and we, along with another two girls, spent that time wandering through the different floors, going to all-you-can-eat buffets, hanging out and giggling over boys.
Needless to say, when the cruise ended, we were quite sad, so we exchanged addressed and promised to write each other letters, and then eventually email each other when hotmail became popular. (We also did this with the other two girls that we hung out with but sadly, have since long lost touch with them). Then came along Facebook, and we managed to stay in touch through that, wishing each other happy birthdays and other random messages over the years. I’ve been going to Scottsdale for the past few years during the winter holidays because my brother lives out there, but we never managed to find a time to meet up.
It wasn’t until my trip to Scottsdale this year, in May, did we finally get together after almost two decades (omg, am I showing my age here? haha). Marie saw that I was heading out here, and since her dog, Daphne, was getting older, she decided she wanted to capture Daphne while she was still her sassy, energetic self. I was expecting the meet up to be awkward, but despite the years that passed, Marie felt like an old friend that I had known forever.
Our session with Daphne took place at the beautiful Lost Dog Wash Trailhead, and Daphne shone for the camera like she was a born model. Smiling and giving us sassy expressions, she was so much fun to work with. Thanks Marie for such a sweet session, and I’m so glad that we finally re-connected in person. I can’t wait to hang out with you again when I’m back in Scottsdale later this year! <3
