Blue Stix Pepperoni-Style Dog Treats: Lamb Recipe Review | Chewy.com
I’m a lucky participant of Chewy.com‘s Blogger Outreach Program, meaning I get to try out a lot of different pet products in exchange for my honest reviews. The following review are the thoughts and opinions of yours truly, and no way am I paid to endorse the following product.
What owner doesn’t like to spoil their pets with treats?
For today’s review, I will be reviewing Blue Stix Pepperoni-Style Dog Treats: Lamb Recipe.
The first thing when I’m looking to buy treats is to look at the ingredients section. The ingredients listed are:
Lamb, Chicken Meal, Oatmeal, Potatoes, Vegetable Glycerin, Gelatin, Sugar, Maple Sugar, Dried Beet Pulp, Brown Rice, Sweet Potatoes, Natural Flavor, Flaxseed, Salt, Natural Smoke Flavor, Dried Cultured Skim Milk, Blueberries, Carrots, Apple, Preserved With Lactic Acid, Citric Acid And Mixed Tocopherols, Oil Of Rosemary.
which all seem fairly straightforward. It doesn’t say where the protein is sourced, so that’s the only thing that concerns me. Given all the quality issues with various pet companies in the past, I feel more comfortable buying from pet companies that are Made in the USA or Canada.
As for buying lamb-based foods, I usually stick to my simpler proteins such as chicken or turkey. However, I’ve encountered more dogs lately with poultry allergies or sensitivities, so I’ve started looking at lamb and rabbit-based treats as an alternative option.
Opening the bag up, I’m immediately hit with a smell, and it actually smelled pretty good! They smell like Slim Jim beef sticks, but physically, they’re less oily. (Not going to lie, I kind of got a craving for beef jerky, and contemplated the human edibleness of the treats…)
The sticks are fairly soft, aka easily breakable for using as smaller training treats, and actually come pre-marked (or pre-segmented? Can’t think of the word right now).
Ingredients: Okay, minus lack of information where protein is sourced
Training Treat: Okay (due to breakability)
Dog-Approved: ? That’s always the real test, of course!
Here’s Bailey, my little helper. Her face is already a good indicator that these treats are delicious.
And she’s off! (She likes to take her treats and run off to somewhere where she doesn’t have to worry about stealing her treat!)
Treat-approved! While these treats aren’t at the top of list for buying, I wouldn’t mind buying these occasionally if need be.
Many thanks again to Chewy.com for the opportunity to review these treats. Until next time!
